The S in SHRM should stand for Spam [N/A]

RANT: SHRM has been useless for me since I got my cert \~10 years ago. I’ve had my employer pay for my membership since to maintain my cert (had to pay to renew my certification) but I can’t remember the last time I’ve read anything valuable from SHRM or attended a webinar that wasn’t a sales pitch. This morning alone i received FIVE emails from SHRM and all five are junk - advertising a HRIS, trying to sell me a membership even though i have one, and nonsense webinars that will bring me no value except credits to maintain my cert.

This is not even mentioning SHRM’a shady ethics in recent years lol.

So I’m curious, does anyone still get any value from SHRM and if so what value do you get? I want to get my money’s worth and I intend to keep my certification status but I’m scratching my head on what it even offers me.

I’ve since been plugged in to state SHRM-like, but not affiliated, orgs that have brought me value. I’ve also been enjoying the DMEC, their webinars and content are substantial and I don’t feel like they’re selling me anything every time I tune in.
