From other males in the profession I just want to get your opinions on experiencing bias. I have a degree in HR, have my SHRM-CP, and I’m currently on an HR team doing TA, onboarding, I-9 compliance, etc. I want to move up to a generalist position because quite frankly TA is burning me out. I’ve been casually applying and have actually had luck getting phone screens and some first round interviews, but what I’ve noticed is they’re all female teams. I think whats been getting me through to screenings is my name can also be a female name. In the end all the positions I’ve applied for I’ve been rejected, only to see who they hired through LinkedIn a few weeks later and it’s a female, with much less experience, and no SHRM certs.
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and if you’re a male, how did break the barriers into HR?
